Angmar!

Again I have been doing a little Painting this Week. I have began repainting all of my Orcs, not only in time for the new Mordor Sourcebook Release but also for my new Angmar army. I have also painted up my Witch King of Angmar and Gulahvar.

Here are the pictures of them:

And another Project on the go - Buhrdur!

And here's another project that I am working on. Here is my converted Buhrdur Hill Troll Chieftain. It involved a little moving around the arms untill I found the pose I like and sculpting in the gaps (in this case quite large gaps) with some putty.

Here he is:

Harry the Hammer - Harald Hammerstorm!

I've finished painting my Harry the Hammer which I bought on the 26th April and overall am quite pleased with him other than the odd area of thick paint which I admit isn't very good.

First Blog !!!!

So... the blogs now up, so what to do?

Well, I'll just randomly explain my painting life thus far!

Well, the hobby for me all started around 4 years back. I was browsing the web for random Lord of the Rings things, and what did I come accross?! A Knight of Minas Tirith made by Games Workshop. So being the Lord of the Rings fan I was, I ordered it without hesitation.

On the day of arrival I went out and bought some superglue then stuck it all together. I then (liking the figure detail a lot) checked out the rest of the GW website and thought... AWESOME! Obviously, I eventually checked their stores and realised there was one in my local town centre, so I just had to check it out.

After going and talking to some guys there, I decided the army I wanted to collect and spent some money on an OK army for them (I believe that army was Mordor).

After some time (around 3-4 months) of doing nothing to them I decided to get some more!!!!! And realised that was a mistake when I later came to the painting side of the hobby but that doesn't matter does it.

After about another 5 months, they released the new rulebook and Mines of Moria set. Because I now wanted to get more into the gaming side of things I bought both of them (not realising there was a ruddy rulebook in the MOM set!). They helped me out a lot and also gained me a painting lesson with the manager of the store and so I attended that.

On the day of the painting lesson (about 3 years ago) I then entered the madness of... painting!

Obviously, I started out a bad painter, but then again most people probably do and it's just a fact that we all have to face really.

It's not really until quite recently that I've started to become 'Happy' with my overall results. I experienced my unhappy times of 'too thick paint', 'too much ink' or 'not watered down enough ink', 'not enough paint' or maybe 'oops, wrong colour' - but I got over it and learnt from my mistakes (which even the best of painters are going to make sometimes).

To this day I am still learning from those who are far higher in experience than me and all I can possibly do is take their advice and use it to improve! And so that's what I shall do...

More from me next time (hopefully including some pictures of my latest work...).

Thanks,

Jake
